BREMEN TIES WITH WEST POINT IN OPENER The Bremen High Blue Devils opened their 1945 Football Season at West Point. Ga., on September 2l. This was the first game for a lot of the team. After a hard- fought and evenly matched game Bremen came out with a 0 to 6 tie. BREMEN BLUE DEVILS LOSE TO CARROLLTON 25 TO 6 The Blue Devils next traveled to Carrollton in an afternoon game. This game was played without a cloud in the sky. This was good for the spectators but hard on the players. At this time the team had very little substitutes and equipment. The Blue Devils held the Trojans to a 12 to 6 lead at the half, but after the second quarter the Bremen eleven gave out. Carrollton sent in a fresh team and quickly ran up the score. The final score was 25 to 6. BLUE DEVILS TIE STRONG DEAF TEAM 7 TO 7 ON HOME FIELD The Blue Devils came back to tie one of the strongest teams in this part of the state by tieing 7 to 7 the Georgia School for the Deaf. This team outweighed the Blue Devils about 10 pounds per man. This was one of the heaviest teams that they played all of the season. FIRST VICTORY OF THE SEASON IS A BIG ONE On October 12, the Bremen High Blue Devils beat the Tallapoosa eleven 32 to 0. This was a hard fought game, but the Tallapoosa team was outplayed and outclassed all during the evening. The Blue Devils after gaining experience from the first three games. defeated one of the schoolis oldest rivals. BREMEN DEFEATS DOUGLASVILLE 24 TO 6 The Bremen team the following week beat Douglasville 2-L to 6. This was one of the fastest games ever played on the local field. Douglasville had a well organized passing attack and this made the game very interesting. The local teamis running attack was beginning to work smoothly in this game and the Douglasville team could not stop it. BLUE DEVILS BEAT LAFAYETTE 38 TO 6 The Blue Devils by this time were really going strong. ln a twilight game played on the night of the Halloween Carnival, they beat a highly rated Lafayette team by 32 points. This was the second time that Bremen had ever played Lafayette and the local team wanted to beat them bad because the visitors had beaten us by the same number of points in the tirst game of the series. BLUE DEVILS AGAIN BEAT DOUGLASVILLE On November 9 after laying off for a week the local boys defeated a highly im- proved Douglasville team l9 to lil at Douglasville. The Blue Devils trailed the Doug- lasville team all during the game up until the last minute of the game. ln the last minute of the game Bremen got possession of the ball on their own 20-yard line and marched down to the Douglasville goal line and scored the winning touchdown. This just about ended the game. After the Bremen team kicked off the game was over. BREMEN LOSES TO HEFLIN I2 TO 6 ln the last game of the season the Bremen High Blue Devils lost to a very good Heflin, Ala., team l2 to 6. It w as the last game for both teams and they both fought hard. The local team held them down in the first half but in the end the Heflin team ix on by a one touchdown margin.
