Foreign Exchange Students Nancy Pochinskas represented Bremen High School during the summer of 1972 in Mexico. She lived with the Edward Palm family, in which there were two daughters, ages 15 and 12. (shown with Nancy) Although her home was in Mexico City, Nancy traveled to many different parts of Mexico: from the ancient pyramids of the Aztecs and Mayas (shown in the picture above) to the sunny beaches of Acapulco. “ didn’t go to school, but I learned much more about the people and customs of Mexico by traveling and seeing so many different aspects of Mexican life. My Spanish also improved. All in all, my summer in Mexico was a really great experience! Paula in France, Nancy in Mexico. A Mexican pyramid. After spending many hours enroute, we finally met our families in Lermont-Ferrand, a city about the size of Harvey somewhere in the middle of France. The name of the family with whom I stayed was VIEILLEDENT which means “old tooth . There were two girl's (15 and 7). I soon got accustomed to life in France. The hardest thing to get used to was lunch. In France, they take 3 hours for lunch and they use every bit of it. They serve at least a 7 course meal and they eat very fast, the mother cooks while the dinner is in progress. Breakfast usually consists of a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and a piece of bread with butter. Supper takes about an hour and it's about five courses. Normally I would get up at 7:30 for school. School lasted from 9:00 'till 12:00. At 3:00 we met and had excursions in the surrounding villages or did some other activity. The weekends were spent with the family, most French families go walking on Sundays. We spent the last week of our trip sight seeing in Paris and London. Then on the 31st we left Paris for home. t ff1 rh- . : ix:r
