The Bremen Shield represents the ideals which students and faculty members strive to attain. We should be aware of our shield and of the qualities it suggests. The Indian head symbolizes good sportsmanship, not only in sports, but throughout all phases of our lives. Books are always an indication of classes and learning. We at Bremen are aware that the knowledge we obtain will be an asset in later life. Clasped hands represent to us friendship and loyalty. We strive to be loyal to our friends and to ourselves. Achievement of these three ideals is illustrated by the mortar board and diploma, indicating graduation. As we all know, commencement is not the end, but rather the beginning. To those of you who will carry forth these ideals, we dedicate this book. Study is emphasized at Bemen. Dances are fun. and the Prom is the most exciting of all. o 5 penntenc L. They have all been active in athletics and activities, and Bremen will remember them for their contribution to a growing school. 25 SENIORS Well, we finally made it! Four years certainly went by fast. (This is probably what most seniors are saying to themselves.) All the things that happened to us during our high school days will be remembered for a long time to come. This graduating class has done and experienced many things during their days here. No one can say which of these was more important, for each individual remembers those things which are important to him. The Class of '59 can be proud of its accomplishments at Bremen. We hope that their rememberances of Bremen will be happy ones, and we wish them continued success in the future. LINDA SUE ALLEMANG Oak Forest F.H.A. 1,3.4; Girls’ Club 2. It is divided into two Houses, the Senate and the House of Representatives. Its objectives are to promote activities, to represent the student body, and to build school spirit. They have sold book covers and school buttons as well as presenting dances. Although they are a busy group, they have served the purpose of representing the student body exceedingly well. THE ARROW Your yearbook staff has worked hard to give you a book you will enjoy owning, not only in 1959, but throughout the years. Much work had to be done before we released this book to you. In addition to the tasks of scheduling pictures, selling subscriptions, writing copy, and planning the lay-out. we also sponsored dances and sold underclass pictures to help pay for the cost of the book. We can honestly say that we handled all aspects of this book. We sincerely hope that you will have as much fun reading it as we had working with it in the raw stages. ARROW Row I. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT . . After working with a yearbook such as the ARROW, a person realizes that many people are involved in publishing the book. The Norman King Publishers work with many yearbooks in the area: however, they have given us individual attention. A yearbook is nothing without pictures, and the Root Studio has supplied us with many good portraits and candid pictures. I would like to thank the many people who work with this organization for their time and understanding. A special thanks should go to the administration and faculty for their cooperation. Finally I would like to thank our sponsors on whom much of the responsibility has rested. I feel that they deserve much credit for directing and helping the staff to its culmination—the distribution of the 1959 ARROW. 96 Bob Krygowski Editor
