S. tory. the spirited Bucks fought a well-trained determined Abilene eleven to a 6-6 tie in Fair k Stadium. Despite an underdog rating the Buckaroos ld their own with Pete Shotwell's Eagles while ,000 fans witnessed one of the oldest and most ous rivalries in the state. Scoring honor for Bucks went to Marvin Newberry. and Jimmy Spenceros cellent punting was one of the highlights of the e. PASCHAL GAME ld Breck Hi displayed a potent football team n the Green and White teamed the Paschal Panthers a decisive 25-12 score. The Fort Worth boys re never a serious threat as the Bucks dominated four quarters of play on their home field. Two cial thrills were Pat Thompson's pass interception 45-yard touchdown run and Dale Witcher's brilliant yard jaunt to the end zone. WICHITA FALLS GAME he Buckaroos visited the Coyotes in Wichita Falls ly to be entertained by the way of a 21-0 defeat. e Bucks were not the perfect guests, for their ged and vicious tackling would not be welcomed by team. 13,500 spectators witnessed a ball game far re thrilling than the score indicates as the Bucks tled one of the state's greatest teams. GRAHAM GAME After dropping the Wichita game the fighting Bucks urneyed to Graham a week later with renewed deter- nation. Such determination paid off as Breckenridge n handily. 19-0. The Steers at no time displayed e versatility that the Buckies did. and football llowers over Texas began to speak of the Bucks as lay-off' material. The injury of Cooper Robbins. Buckaroo Stadium was the scene of flying red rags as a total of 19 penalities were assessed against the twojteams. Ray 'Doodie' Dodds was a stand-out on on defense for the Bucks and Jimmy Spencer retained his excellent punting record. They and their teammates were complete masters for the evening. THE RANGER GAME Old man weather restricted the Buck- aroos when they clashed with Ranger amid a downpour of rain in Breckenridge. The slimy ball made it hard to hold and fumbles were frequent. The Bulldogs lost more ground than they gained. and Newberry's two touchdowns brought the Bucks a 13-0 victory. The old Buckie line deserves special mention for its bang-up playing on a muddy field. THE WEATHERFORD GAME Spectators left Kangaroo Field in a stunned and thoroughly upset condition when the Weatherford eleven edged by the Buckaroos. 25-20. This was the case that happens only in football, for certainly B. H. S. should have been the victor. What happened to the Bucks or what caused this loss can only be called 'just one of those things'. In the words of one sobbing supporter -- 'We all let down on the job. The boys can't do it all: neither can the fans. Now we most profit by our mistakes.' X The team talks over the prospects of winning the Quarter Final game against Longview. 'W' A word to the wise is sufficienb it :Kr LLL. . fiQH5NfV m:ssfEv-1S'i 1 THE MINERAL WELLS GAME. The ever-fighting Bucks visited Mountaineer Stadium only to return home with a 2-0 win over Mineral Wells and a bright shinny crown as Kings of District 9AA. Pla i ' t y ng in a s eady drizzle and on a sticky field, Coach Robbins' illustrious proteges sewed up the championship'when Jimmy Spencer and Arkansas Al- len smeared Duane Grisset behind his own goal. Breckenridge's big Buckaroos mixed aerial trickery with ground power to smother the Cisco Loboes 35 to B on Thanksgiving Day. Newberry. Spencer and Jones did the actual scoring while each of the boys on the team played an outstanding ball game. Again thousands of fans left Buckaroo Field with repewed confidence in the athletes of Old Breck High. All eyes turned to Corsicana, and with these glances went samples of the never-stop-fighting spirit that filled the halls of B. H. S. THE LONGVIEW GAME. Two outstand- ing defensive teams clashed in Longview in a 0-0 Quarter- finals game when the Bucks and Lobos met. Despite a wide edge in statistics the 'Powder River' Buckaroos did not win since the Lobos had gained one penetration. Oddly enough, this penetration was made on the opening play as the two green and white teams collided. The Bucks played great football. but Luck would not smile and give them the 4 yards needed to cross Longview's 20. Fans had no complaints against the Buckaroos. for already they had brought glory to B. H. S. This '4 yard' loss was stacked away with the students' unhappy and unlucky memories of an all-round great football season. ex? if 2 al it-iid? Jooifaff THE BROWNWOOD GAME. On Armistice Day the Buckaroos surprised everyone. that is, except the Bucks and their loyal supporters Despondent over the loss to Weatherford, the determined Buckies knocked the undefeated Lions off the top rung in the district ladder. A pass from Jimmy Payne to Spencer and the extra point by Newberry sent the Bucks home from Brownwood with new hopes for a conference title and a strong belief in the adage that 'A Team That Won't Be Beat Can't Be Beat.' THE CORSICANA GAME. The Bucks' magnificent defense hit on all cylinders and blasted Corsicana out of the Class AA schoolboy playoff by a more decisive margin than the 12-0 score would indicate. Both scores were the results of perhaps the most spectacular playing the Blue and Gold had ever played host to in a Bi-District game. Jimmy Spencer pulled the play-of-the-day by swiping the pigskin from the hands of a Tiger ball carrier and sprinting 28 yards to the double stripe for the first tally. Harley Rodgers caught Payne's 2l yard pass for the second score. and Harry Dean sparkled in his new fullback role. Ham- merin' Harry buldozed through the line for a series of steady gains which set up the Bucks' second touchdown.
