Elia Popovich sounds the battle cry for Breck soccer Chris Murray and Lois Fruen walk down the aisle The Breck Homecoming celebrations began with a series of special dress-up days. The first of these days was Clash Day, when students wore a vast array of vibrant, obnoxious clothing, including striped pants and flowered shirts. Then came Hat and Sunglasses Day, which was followed by Class Day, when each class chose its own theme. The seniors chose to emulate Mr. Severn, while the juniors all wore shorts. Class day was followed by the spirit of Blue and Gold Day. This spirit mounted as coronation drew near. Mark Evenstad and Whitney Stoddard, Mark Salsbury and Tasha Sween, Ashanti Payne and Bevin Barber, John Kelly and Mary Morrison, and Erik Stolhanske and Heather Heefner happily strolled down the aisle. Erik Stolhanske and Bevin Barber were crowned king and queen. The intensity of Home- coming strengthened when the Pep Fest began. This featured skits performed by the various athletic teams, a cake-eating contest, and the traditional tug-of-war which ended prematurely in chaos. The Pep Fest was lead by the Breck cheerleaders, Darren Welter, Mike Mattison, and Matt Aydelott. Following the Pep Fest, students attended the various Homecoming games, where Breck teams performed excellently. The football game was played under the lights and had the traditional parade of floats made by students. Homecoming ended with a festive toga dance which was one of the best in years. Students dressed in white sheets, sandals, and crowns made from the vines which adorn the building. Everyone enjoyed the dance, ending Homecoming on a positive, enthusiastic note. Activities 15
