Dedication Richard Yonker Richard Yonker has served Breck for twenty-three years in many capacities: math teacher, high school bowl coach, math league coach. In this time he has gained a reputation throughout the school as a teacher dedicated to teaching his subject, who cares about his students, and challenges them to their utmost ability. His quirky sense of humor has become legendary among his students. His calculus parties got most of the AP Calc students through the week as they struggle with integrals of natural logs and infinite series. The posters plastering his room are indications of his personality: old clippings of past Gopher and Mustang football victories. Ziggy posters, scientific posters explaining what would happen if the earth was a trapezoid instead of a sphere, prairie dogs, and good old Charlie Brown. Traditionally, math has been the subject most students dislike and complain about in the hallway. Do you realize how much MATH homework we have tonight?”, I hate MATH, it's impossible! , This MATH is so boring !”. Mr. Yonker. however, causes students to see math more in the light of a challenge, rather than as a boring but necessary piece of homework. When one of his students gets a problem correct, it’s a source of pride. Richard Yonker has been described as a dedicated man, an involved member of the Breck Teacher's Union, a man with interesting ideas. Fellow faculty members have characterized him as an incredible person, willing to spend large amounts of time with his students. Dedication is a tribute to a person who has given of himself to the school steadily, constantly. Breck claims its strength as a school is derived from the quality of its people. Richard Yonker must be counted, then, as a primary source of this quality.

THE ROAD TO Dear Everyone, Did you know!? A road is defined as a highway between places — a means of getting from one area to another. In some ways, Breck is acting as the means to get you from first grade, or sixth grade, or eleventh grade, into College And Adult Life. For some. Breck may be one long red light on the highway of life. But think of it as a road to success, helping you to get from where you are now to what you will become. Roads have different personalities — some are smooth, some are rough, some are winding — yet all eventually reach their destination. And isn't that the purpose of a road? To get you to where you want to be with a minimum of fuss. Or can a road be a little more? There are people who travel on roads just to reach their destination, while others enjoy the excitement of the journey. So go ahead — do well on tests, finish your homework, join lots of extracurricular activities, but not just to make your college transcript look good. Consider the famous ancient saying: Getting there is half the fun! Sincerely. CIs BRECK 4 Introduction
