Its forty-two acre campus allows room for six ploying fields, a track, a playground, and the three story school building. One unusual feature of the grounds is the bog behind the school. This pond area not only attracts many varieties of smoil animals and birds, but lends itself to the study of microorganisms by the biology classes. The fireplace in the Upper School foyer is lit throughout the winter. There, hot chocolate is served to chilled students on the coldest winter days. The twenty-five meter swimming pool is another feature that sets Breck apart, as does the chapel. Special events are the final aspect of Breck's matchless energy. Many activities offered at Breck ore offered nowhere else. Class trips encourage friendships at the beginning of the school year Students and teachers look forward to these times. As students spend two or three days together away from school, the close quarters unify the class ond generate enthusiasm. The Blessing of the Animals follows fast upon the class trips. It not only gives the school a sense of family as the Chaplain blesses various pets, but in a delightful way also reaffirms the spiritual ties binding Breck to the Episcopal Church. Sno Daze falls in February, about the time students begin sliding into a slump. It is a day dedicated to snow sculpture, voSey-ball games, movies, snowball fights, and Father Smith blesses a snoko during Blowing o! the Animats. 4 Introduction
