Eagerly awaited by all. this trip was taken in the early fall. All classes were taken to the pumpkin patch where the fun began. The kids piled out of the buses, their exuberence held in check by teachers. The troupe swarmed over the pumpkins. By poking, slapping, and squishing them, they checked for rotting fruit, squealing with delight if they found one. Not one pumpkin got by their eagle eyes, or their strong little hands. Slowly but surely, each child picked out a pumpkin of his or her own. Finally, each child was clutching a pumpkin. They reboarded the bus. chattering excitedly to one another, cradling the pumpkins in their arms, eyes shining. The trip was over, but it lived on as a joyful memory. 2i
