Mr. Blatherwick, as a coach, teacher, and person, is a character builder. He won't let the individual let himself down by not trying his very hardest. He respects people much more for hard work than natural abilities. In coaching and in life, he stresses that if something is important to a person, he owes it to himself to try his best to achieve it. He is an understanding and deeply compassionate person. He will work with you on any problem until it is solved and you feel good again. He does all the hockey skating drills with his players. He is a truly dedicated individual. Probably the greatest part of his personality is his abundant generosity. He always seems to have time for the individual, whether it is for a personal problem or extra-help in mathematics. He's always giving people rides home when they get stranded. A perfect example of Mr. Blatherwick's character is brought out in an incident after a tough hockey game. He treated the whole team to pizza, and being one penny short for the check, he flipped for the penny with the cashier and won! by Ken Shepherd
