BY ,--,---g--,-,,g J 4 I Earl Hill, Perry Wood, Guy Ledbetter, Phillip Campbell, Leslie Slauter, Educational Therapy Perhaps there is no set prescription to keep all people happy and healthy, all the time, but Brea- Olinda High School, with the educational therapy provided by a helpful and cooperative Board of Trustees, offers a wide enough variety of treatment to give each student an opportunity to discover his own formula for success. 4- Pop Fulfllls Success Prescription Coming to Brea-Olinda in 1932 as a night watchman, Oswald Meissner--known to students and alumni as Pop or Oz- zie --has certainly found the prescription for success as he has lost only three days to sickness out of23 years of serv- ice. Proudly admitting to the age 70, Pop says it's all due to Ma's good cooking, and ruefully accepts the fact that he will have to retire this year because of the age law. Ac- cording to him, working withkids keeps a person young, and it can be truly said that he is one of the young at heart. Let's gather up those memories together. During our freshman year we were led by capable class officers Who were Vic Auer, president, Mardine Anderson, vice president, Janice Strickland, secretary, Carol Shaffer, treasurer and Diana Neal, class representative. We can't forget our advisers, Mrs. Shadforth and Mr. I-Iassing. This year we were proud to have Wil- bur Chansler and Mardine Ander- son added to the scholarship society. Four Years at B.O.U.H.S. Carol Shaffer was selected homecoming queen and Girls' League president. Board of Control matters were capably handled by President Jim Shuck and Earl Swoap, prosecutor. Carol Bath, G. A. A. president, Shirley Dey, class president, and Mardine Anderson, Gusher editor and scholarship president,were also responsible for a successful year. They also sponsored the Sock Hop, which was fun for every- one attending. The most exciting event on the junior calendar, the Junior-Senior Prom, was held at the Pacific Coast Club ' L ' in ong Beach on April 22. We danced to the wonderful music of the Riffs f O rom range Coast Col- lege. Diane Taylor and Cueor ior class in the race for Daisy Mae and Lil Abn ge Cooke represented the Jun- er, with Rodney Ledbetter and Lois Lussow as our Coed King and Queen candidates. Wilbur Chansler and John Helmick were al- so tabbedfor honors by being placed on the second eleven. Baca, one of the league's most res- pected runners, ground out 534 yards for an average of4.9yards per carry in five league contests. He also starred at safety on defense. Chans- ler snagged 1-flaerials for 232 yards and was a standout runner when called upon to lead and end-around play. Helnnick stopped many a back on defense and also handled his guard position with versatility.
