As we turn back the days ot time we see these kids meekly entering Brea-Olinda Union High School. Attenr a tew weeks ot hubble jumble, they get themselves organized and start earning some money tor their class through concessions under the able lead- ership ot Mrs. Helmick and Mr. Brucker. While treshmen they topped oft the year with a Voodoo Dance in the school cafeteria. As lhe sophomore year rolled around, we find 'rhem gelling a lillle more aggres- sive. They highlighled 'lhis year with 'I'he sophomore dance, The Gypsy Trail. Peelcing around lhe corner of 'lhe nexl' year we find 'lhem as juniors busily work- ing 'lo make money and preparing for +he prom which was held al' lhe Greenbrier l lol'el in Garden Grove. The lheme was carried ou+ in island fashion. This year Mr. S'l'raw look Mr. Brucker's place as our class adviser. Bolh he and Mrs. Helmiclc really helped l'his year lo be a success. The annual iunior dance was 'rhe Fireman's Ball and everyone had a rip roaring lime. For 'lhe las'l main aclivily of lhe year l'he junior play was held: lhis 'lurned ou'r 'lo be lwo plays inslead of one and was very differenl from lhe olhers in pasl' years. Most of the students had important positions in running the school activities and were kept busy all the time. Nick Ruiz, as president, had the job of managing us this year with the help of our advisers, of course. In spite of all their work they got a lot of pleasure out of putting on the senior dance and their other class activ- ities. Their dance was under the theme of The Gay Nine+ies and everyone enjoyed dancing 'ro the music of the Four of Us. The senior play was really swell. H was entitled, The Fires of Spring, and was directed by Miss Lyman and several stu- dents. Boy, did the kids have fun al' ditch day which was al' Snow Valley: several got colds, frozen hands and even broken legs. Luckily, I only froze my tail. This year their senior breakfast was held at the Laguna Beach Hotel overlooking the beautiful coastline and beach below. A wiener roast was held the same evening at Bird Rock. Oh, we can r forget the wonderful prom the iuniors and their advisers, Mrs. Hedges and Shorty Smith gave the seniors at the Pacific Coast Club: everyone had a perfect time and 'lhey all want to thank the juniors for such an eventful evening.
