Curl s Basketball Makes The Shots The jay Vee basketball team won twenty- four games and lost eight during the sea- son. They placed third at Angleton and Calhoun tournaments and placed second at Sweeny. They were also nine and one in the district where they won by the best record. The jay vees practiced during sixth period and after school. They aver- aged about one and a half hours a day. One of the members of the team, Mary Jo Torrance, said The jay vees played excellently and they usually had a lot of spirit. Jeanette Sciba coached the girls jay vee basketball team. She gave high praise to her girls saying that The kids did a tre- mendous job, and I enjoyed working with them. The freshmen team, coached by Linda Turek, had a 16-6 record and a 5-5 sec- ond place district record. Swim Team The Brazoswood swim team faced several major changes. A new coach and new district line-up were among a few of these. Captains S Mark Guess, Celeste Stover, and Dorinda Jung were a help to new ' coach, jeff Bonser, throughout the entire season. At the Inters- quad Meet, the blue team, under Guess and Stover, placed first, third, and fourth while lung's sil- ,t,,,i N, A wi-,nasff1vQ2ff:agasaw '25 . ver team placed second. Those who won individual trophies at various meets were sophomores Pat Lowry, Randy Paul, Mary Murray, and Amy Grether, freshman Laura Hall, and junior Kathy Coppage. At the TISCA Meet, Brazoswood came home champions as the result of Dorinda jung's high placement in 'A' the different events. Brazoswood hosted the district me A meet and won both boys and girls titles with better than 60 points over the nearest teams. Girls outscored the nearest opponent by 61 points and boys by 66.
