Curl s Basketball Makes The Shots The jay Vee basketball team won twenty- four games and lost eight during the sea- son. They placed third at Angleton and Calhoun tournaments and placed second at Sweeny. They were also nine and one in the district where they won by the best record. The jay vees practiced during sixth period and after school. They aver- aged about one and a half hours a day. One of the members of the team, Mary Jo Torrance, said The jay vees played excellently and they usually had a lot of spirit. Jeanette Sciba coached the girls jay vee basketball team. She gave high praise to her girls saying that The kids did a tre- mendous job, and I enjoyed working with them. The freshmen team, coached by Linda Turek, had a 16-6 record and a 5-5 sec- ond place district record.
