D What is dressed in shorts and tennis shoes, walks 30 kilometers, and is very tired? It is a Walkathon walker from Bra- zoswood. The course ran down Oyster Creek drive and Southern Oaks drive, and around the Lake Jackson Intermediate School. From the Intermediate, they went to Dunbar Park for lunch. After lunch all those that could go on started again around Highway 2004 for the remaining half. At the end of the walk the walkers returned to the Dunbar Park registration area where they got their instructions on how and where to return their money. Wu They also received a Battered Boot Award. Out of the 75 runners in the Lions Club Charity Race, three Brazoswood students placed at the course at Dunbar Park. Belles Boogie At Spring Show The culmination of a month of planning, practicing, and polish- ing resulted in what was called the best Bucca- neer Belle Spring Show ever. Work for the production was done by sponsor Vicki Long, Belles' officers, and the Belles themselves . The Belles arrived at 7:30 a.m. each day dur- ing the month preceding the show and practiced until the end of first pe- riod. They also re- hearsed after school from 3:30 to 6 p.m. With Butch Wright and Mark Heard acting as Masters of Ceremonies , the Belles got the show on the road. Among their routines were a scarecrow routine to Ease on Down the Road, a fifties routine to Greased Lightnin' ,' a black light routine to Which Way's Up, the traditional officer jazz routine, and the tradi- tional high kick routine. They also did a skit to the Oilers' Fight Song, which featured David Aldous, Don Rip- ple, and Wally Taylor as Derrick Dolls , and drill team members as the Houston Oilers and the Pittsburg Steelers . There was also a King Tut routine, featuring Bret Johnston, and a pe- cial routine in which all of the senior Belles per- formed together to Last Dance.
