Moon Child Sets The Mood Homecoming gameday activities all be- gan on Friday the 13th, which happens to be an unlucky day. However, the Bucca- neers proved that this was wrong. They trounced their football opponent Laredo Nixon 34-O. Tonya Lanthrip won the Homecoming ti tle. Tonya was announced at half time by Student Council Sponsor Alan Lewis . Benny Dunn, Almondo Gonzales, and Glenn Ermis, varsity captains for that week honored Tonya with a crown, flow- ers, and a kiss. The top runnersups for queen by julie Nicoll and Cindy Sherman. The three duchesses were juniors, A Rhonda Pyeatt, sophomore Tina Gregory, and freshman Phyllis Gaspard. Each girl was escorted on the field by her father. Moon Child, one of the most well known bands , played for the dance after the foot- ball game. A number of couples went out to dine after pictures were taken. Some went to Houston, but this year several couples ended up at Dairy Bar, Sonic, Pizza Hut, and other well known hangouts Earlier in the week students built their bonfire, a tradition of their last high school homecoming. One student said This was the best Homecoming and bon- fgre ever. C
