This year saw a change in the principal sys- tem. There were fiveg one head principal and four assistant principals. They each had cer- tain duties to carry out, and each of the assis- tant principals was in charge of a certain grade. H. E . Marcum was still the head prin- cipal. He was in charge of running the school and directing everyone who worked here. James Slade was in charge of the ninth grade this year. He also had other duties such as evaluating the math and industrial arts teach- ersg and writing the student handbook. He was in charge of building maintenance and was the person to talk to for scheduling the use of the building. james Cox was in charge of the twelfth grade. Evaluating P.E. and Social Studies teachers, and securing substitute teachers were among his duties. He was also the head of the summer school and driver's education programs. Karin Echols was one of the new assistant principals . She was in charge of the eleventh grade. She evaluated the English and language arts teachers and issued admits before school. Melvin Blair was another new assistant prin- cipal. He was in charge of the twelfth grade and evaluated the science and homemaking teachers.
