Thank Goodness lt's . . . Friday, the most popular weekday, was loved by students , teachers , and anyone else who had a hard week. Fridays , espe- cially during football season, were looked forward to not only as the beginnings of ' the weekends but also as shorter, livlier, and more exciting days than usual. Friday mornings were the only time one could see a marching band squashing through the halls and winding through the cafeteria, playing the fight song loudly, if not all together. At lunch, the great weekly Battle of the Spirit Links was won and lost, the seniors usually abstain- ing. Every class but fourth period was shorter, which pleased most of the stu- dents , even knowing that they would have to make up the lost time on Monday. Despite the large number of students who left at 2:45 with pep rally permits , the boys gym was packed with a thunder- ing band, performing drill team, twirl- ers, and cheerleaders, and yelling, swaying, and clapping students. The var- sity football team, coaches, and faculty contributed in a much quieter manner. After school, everyone who intended to go to the game had barely enough time to rush home and get ready before going to Hopper Field. The climax of Fridays were the games themselves, the fans cheering even more loudly if the Bucca- neers were behind in the score. B
