Tryouts Lead To The All-Area and All-State Band, Choir, and Orchestra provided music students all over the state with an opportunity to excel 'T in the musical area of their choice. The musicians who won positions in these All-State groups attended the Texas Music Educator's Association's All-State Conven- tion at Fort Worth. Clinicians from sever- al different states conducted the groups in rehearsal and at concerts. The final Grand Concert, featuring all three All-State groups, was the climax of the convention. As usual, Brazoswood had many students selected for this honor. From the choir were Janice Muniza and Teresa Donnell, first altos, Merry Brashear, first soprano, Robert Crawford, second tenor, and Ken Golden, baritone. Violinists selected were orchestra students Trudy Heimbigner, Renai Knight, Allen Ambuhl, Kelly Lamb, Tony Knight, and Kevin Gardner. Andri Friedli, on the cello, was also chosen. One of the only common factors between these students, aside from their study of music, was the patches on their jackets which proudly proclaimed that they made All-State in 1979.
