According to Magee, the choir's success was due to hard work and determina- tion. The choir also partici- pated in Solo! Ensemble in Texas City with members receiving ratings of superior and excellent in vocal and piano performances. Other highlights included Thanksgiving and Christmas concerts featuring the A Cappella Choir. A joint con- cert was given with the Bra- zoswood Orchestra, in which Verdi's famous Te Deum was performed. Tradition was maintained with the choir's Christmas concert, 1. fr f 4 45. D which was begun with the an- nual candlelight procession. Spring tour was held in the Dallas area this year, and concerts were given in churches and schools, where the choir sang a variety of sacred and secular music. The tour was officially ended with a shaving cream fight in the Brazoswood parking lot. The climax of the A Cap- pella Choir was their pre- sentation of lrene in mid- May. Lead performers and chorus members put in weeks of work and prepara- tion. The choir received new uniforms, but unfortunately they were not able to use them because they did not arrive until too late in the year. 145
