4 Stage Bands jazz It Up The halls were filled first and sixth periods with the sound of music from the stage bands. Gregg Smith and George Boozalis on trombone, Mark Evans on drums, Doug Dewey on trumpet, and Tony Spell on bass trombone and George Booza- lis on alternate trombone made the all- state jazz ensemble. Tapes of Tony and George were made at Alvin College. The morning stage band practiced dur- ing first period. They participated in the Brazosport College jazz Festival. They also participated in the Lee College Stage Band Contest and in the Wharton Stage Band Contest, receiving first division rat- ings at both . The afternoon stage band practiced sixth period. They also participated in the Bra- zosport College jazz Festival as well the Wharton Stage Band Contest and the Lee College Stage Band contest, and played at the football banquet. They received first divisions at Wharton and Lee Colleges.
