Machine trades The Brazosport Machine Shop Practice Chapter 67 was started in 1950 and is still with us. There were 20 boys enrol- led this year. Using the six basic mac- hine tools. they made machines. They could make a machine gun or a sewing machine if they wanted to. This BHS department has trained some of the best machinists in the area. This line of work offers great opportunities which aren't being used by enough students. Dow, lVlallay Repair, McGill Specialty Machine Shop, and Brown and Root are among the many firms employing hundreds of machinists in this area. For the young men follow- ing through with this training, an aver- age yearly income of 320,000 can be earned. 74-ACADEMICS F
