FHA The Future Homemakers of America involved themselves in many projects this year, some for the community and some for the club. Many of the activities were done in conjunction with the FFA. Two of these were a hayride and weiner roast, and the Brazoria County FFA-FHA Youth Fair. At the April fair the girls exhibited articles of clothing and baked goods for judging. As a service project, the two groups collected over 200 stamped Christmas cards which were sent to the State Hospital at Rusk. These cards were for the use of the patients there. Throughout the year they did such things as help Santa Claus with his appearances at various business locations, and serve at the FFA, Football, and DE banquets. ln January they provided the Velasco PTA with baby sitters and in February they gave Freeport lntermediate eighth grade girls a tour and introduction of the Homemaking Department. March 19-25 was National FHA Week, during which degrees were completed and refreshments were served for the teachers in the lounges. ACADEMICS-7 l
