Crafts The very popular ceramics and jewelry courses did a lot ol' innovative things this year. Ceramics workers made banks and such by forming clay around balloons. Various containers were made by placing clay coils inside boxes of any shape. The second semester ceramics project required an I8 inch or larger coil Work. The hardest part of the course was work with the wheel to form a clay vessel. ln the jewelry course, students were exposed to in- teresting silver soldering, gold and silver electroplating, centrifugal cast- ing, and vacuum casting. ln the last method, molten metal is pulled into a mold by a vacuum. Works with lea- ther consisted ol' making things such as sandals. Une very successful method was the casting ol' jewelry in 14k gold.
