Monitors The trusty BHS Monitors patrolled the halls during lunch and homeroom to keep people from disturbing classes. Mr. Gene Ligon organized the group of boys and girls and kept them at their jobs. This year the monitors numbered about 45. Motivation to join the group often stemmed from the privilege of eating early, possibly missing a class or two, and, of course, keeping order at school. STUDENT LIFE-33

Pep Rallies The 71-72 season saw the cheerleaders do their best to add variety to the Friday pep rally routine. They pulled such stunts as dressing in l920 garb-midis, tight sweaters, pony tails and all. During the homecoming rally, a mock contest was held when boys tried out for Homecoming Queen with girls in men's suits as their escorts. The presence of the Shipmates in red dresses and white gloves also added to the spirit. The several different hand routines were enjoyed by all. STUDENT LIFE-35
