I2 Advancing Upward Many times we find ourselves at the point of giving up because we feel we can't fulfill the task we have set for ourselves. Throughout my four years in high school there were plenty of times when 1 felt ready to give up. But thanks to my parents and teachers, I never quit. They helped me to understand that it was important for me to fulfill many tasks because it was these same tasks that would eventually help me to advance upward. As a junior the one thing I dreaded the most in Mrs. Brown's English class was her famous speedwrites. Now I'm grateful to her because through the speedwrites l've embelished my writing skills. After four years of math there were many times when I felt like throwing my books away! I would sit down and think, Who cares what 4x - Clx - 55 + 3 + Cx - 75 equals! Now I see that these courses which l disliked so much and which seemed so insignifi- cant at the time, have turned out to be well worth my time and energy. Now as I look back l realize how right my parents and teachers were. l'd like to thank them for their faith in me and for their support.
