Every year in the Imperial Valley in late February andfor early March The California Mid-Winter Fair takes place. This is a big event par- ticularly for the Future Farmers of America. During this time the B.U.H.S. FFA students have the op- portunity to place in market and showmanship catagories. This year Brawley FFA participants did very well. Varsity B Club The Varsity B Club is a group of all varsity let- ter persons. The club has an annual Slave sale, where all members are auctioned off to the stu- dent with the highest bid. The proceeds of the sale go into the club's fund and then some will be donated to B.U.H.S. athletics. The recon- struction and the cur- rent upkeep of the weightroom is a primary responsibility of the Varsity B Club. The advisors to the Var- sity B Club are: Mr. Steve Cato, Mr. Joe Wil- lingham, and Mr. Mike Romero. The Cycling Club The purpose of the B.U.H.S. Cycling Club is to provide an opportunity for students to participate in and learn about cycling. Through group rides and workshops, members learn about cycling maintenance. minor repairs, riding tech- niques, safety precautions. and the many benefits of cycling: physical fitness. aesthetic values, energy conservation, and attain- ment of personal goals. The club has regular rides Thursday after school and Saturday tnornings.
