And Archie Moore Made Februarg Colon Alfanno and his means ot transportation. February was a show of most vig- orous patriotism. The student body was not only well disciplined at the Washington-Lincoln assembly, but also celebrated the birthday holidays of the two men with much zeal. The National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test being given on a holiday came as a dull surprise to the iuniors, who, didn't quite get as much enjoyment from the holi- days as they would have liked. The students were delighted early in the month when they were entertained by Archie Moore and his well-disciplined group of boys who belonged to the Any Boy Can Club, The sports world, however, was not inactive during this month. The golf team made its entrance with Lance Reeves and Ken White leading the field. With the beginning of the golf and tennis seasons, came the close of the wrestling and basket- ball reign. The wrestling team wound up their season with a exhil- erating banquet where awards were presented to their well performing CIF team members. Dances, Junior Plag, Rehearsals. Basketball Juniors tried hard, but they didn't make it. lMarci Pilattil Ed Duarte, J V catcher, saved another wild pitch. ew, The freshmen cheerleaders attempted to get some enthusiasm from the freshmen. Juniors enthusiastically started the month of March with Junior Play tryouts. Ronald Robinson captured the lead, David Kingsley. Barbara Butler was female lead. She por- trayed Terry Randall. The supporting cast consisted of George Wilkes, Sharon Ernanuelli, Paula Flammang, Melinda Ogden and Dennis Perkins. The baseball Wildcats did not set the world on tire. The golt team progressed intensely with Lance Reeves performing at a blistering pace. The tennis team followed suit improving on last year's record. At this year's Basketball Banquet, William Bascus as expected was bestowed with honors. The seniors, as usual trampled over the other three classes and were victors in the Traditions Week battle: The weary Annual Staff met the March deadline and went into summer hibernation 'till September.
