Narcotic, GM, and Nasa Speakers T llllllllllllllllllllllll John Stevens elaborated on narcotics issue at assembly. The month of January was a month of high spirit. One factor contributing to this was the continue ation of the basketball season. Our team did quite well, and was backed enthusiastically by the students. The wrestlers were also doing a fine iob, and the support of Brawley fans lifted their fighting spirit. Tennis started this month, and the team looks very promising. Not only were sports prominent this month, but the fields of science and education were adequately represented in the two assemblies presented this month, GM presented an excellent assembly dealing with scientific progress in the industrial world. NASA presented an assembly which explained their purpose and operations very well. Even spirit in the family was evi- dent as more and more students be- gan to recognize and greet our foreign exchange student, Glenda Sharp from New Zealand. She and her family, the Williams' were often seen together sharing the ioys of valley weather and friendship. - 1 ,x Q 6 ..e la - '- ...fg..., ,- Annuai staff members listened intently to Mr. Martins instructions. And Archie Moore Made Februarg Colon Alfanno and his means ot transportation. February was a show of most vig- orous patriotism. The student body was not only well disciplined at the Washington-Lincoln assembly, but also celebrated the birthday holidays of the two men with much zeal. The National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test being given on a holiday came as a dull surprise to the iuniors, who, didn't quite get as much enjoyment from the holi- days as they would have liked. The students were delighted early in the month when they were entertained by Archie Moore and his well-disciplined group of boys who belonged to the Any Boy Can Club, The sports world, however, was not inactive during this month. The golf team made its entrance with Lance Reeves and Ken White leading the field. With the beginning of the golf and tennis seasons, came the close of the wrestling and basket- ball reign. The wrestling team wound up their season with a exhil- erating banquet where awards were presented to their well performing CIF team members.
