The Brawley Wrestling team did an outstanding job this year in com- petition, although losing the cham- pionship to Holtville, The team had a record of 8 wins and 2 losses. The two losses were to Holtville, Brawley losing by only one point in both matches. A strange twist this year was the I.V.L. League Meet at Calexico. instead of this meet determining the league champions, as in previous years, it only determined the entrants into C.l.F. Brawley made a very strong showing at the League Meet, having iO tirsts, 2 seconds, and l fourth place, proving that Brawley Wres- tlers were the strongest and by tar the best in the Valley. Brawley finished high in C.l.F. i Riley, Howard Denton. Second Row: Kenny Hamilton, John Flores, Robert Michael Winterrnute, Fidel Torres, Gilbert Mendez, Xavier Ruiz, Paul Willingham, Les Tucker, Jerry Laird, Keith Smith, Charles Sauer, Ernie thanks to the work of Gilbert Men- dez, a sophomore who fought his way to the C,l.F. Finals and took second place. Next year the wrestling team should have a fine season as most of the team's lettermen will be re- turning, anticipating another suce cesstul season. Safe! At home! lScott Byrdl
