Third row: Sally Howenstein lco-captainl, Belinda Ramirez, Norma Kastner, Alice Cuadrez, Frances The Drill Team, captained by Syl- via Marquez and co-captained by Sally l-lowenstein, had their share of glory.this year. Contributing to this glory was providing pre-game entertainment for the Shriner charity game in the new stadium in San Diego. Even though they like their iob, they liked watching the game and the men in uniform even better. Attributing to their performance was the fact that this was the first time Avila, Sunne Hill. Fourth row: Carolyn Dahm, Ann Thompson, Becky Cleland, Janet vanDam, Laura Sullivan, Mary Smith, Sylvia Marquez, lCaptainl. they had performed with a march- ing band, Among their many other activities, they marched in the Cattle Call Parade, the Christmas parade in El Centro, and the Palm Springs parade. In August, Sylvia and Sally at- tended a camp for spirit promoters at LaVerne near Pomona. Judging by performances the drill team pro- vided this season, training paid off.

When school started, Girls League once again began with hopeful ideas, Each month they announced the Girls-of-the-Month at club meet- ings.
