Gils Gymnastics The Boys’ and Girls’ Gymnastic teams showed new and exciting rou- tines this season. For the second year, Mr. Finck and Mrs. Minott, assisted by Mrs. Finck, coached the squads. The senior members of the teams were captain Verlane Schultz, Mary Milkey, Jonni Rogers, co-captain Mike McInerney, Dave Billard, and Rick Wright. Long practice sessions and hard work produced a successful season. The girls finished with a 6-3 record, while the boys scored 6-1 over the season. Both teams won their respective divisions in the southern dis- trict meet. They also finished first in the combined standings. At the state meet, the boys finished fifth, while the girls took sixth place. The team reached it’s peak against Rutland High School January 12, displaying a fine pressing zone defense which led to 29 Rutland turnovers. The final score of the game was 51-49. On January 26 Mount St. Joseph High School also found the Colonels difficult to defeat.
