I E ARE TI-IE CI-IAMPIGNS Braving the cold are the dedicated fans who are cheering on the Bullets to an exciting victory. Q - 1 b s The beginning of what was to be a game to be remembered. he day Saturday, November 13. The place was South Stadium. The Brashear Bul- lets were victorious over the Westinghouse Bulldogs in the battle for the title, City League Cham- pions. This is Ron Wabby's first year as head coach and he did an excellent job of turning the team into championship material. Brashear dominated Westing- house in the first half. With Pat Capatolla running 68 yards for a touchdown, joe Carletti made the conversion kick, which made the score 7-o. Brashear didn't score again until the third quarter when Demetrius Hayes ran 73 years for their second touchdown. The kick wasn't made due to a bad snap, so the score was 13-o. The Bulldogs were finally able to score in the fourth quarter, when Tim Anderson made a one yard touch- down. There was no extra point because there was a bad snap. The score was 13-6. By that time, it was too late. Brashear had already taken the title away from Wes- tinghouse, The game was televised on QUBE, so fans who couldn't make it to the game could watch it at home. QUBE's City player of the year was Frank Slinger. Thanks to the football team for a successful and exciting year! 48 Pat Capatolla scrambles to gain extra yardage. Di- Perna. eznnli c f he Bullets started the 1982 football sea- son with nowhere to go but up. Last year was disappointing with a 4-3-I re- cord. Also, Coach jim Thompson resigned due to family responsibilities and Ron Wabby be- came the new head coach. The season began with an exhibition game against Mt. Lebanon. Although the Bullets outplayed the Blue Devils, the final score was 7-6, giving Mt. Lebanon the victory. This didn't discourage the Bullets, since they went on to defeat Perry in the regular season opener. This was only the beginning of a highly successful season. They went on to defeat six other teams in a row, which guaranteed them a position in the City League championship game. Their final season game was played against the Westinghouse Bulldogs. This gave the Bullets their only loss of the season. They didn't let this loss bring down their attitudes - they prepared for the championship fired up and ready to again take on the Bulldogs. This time the stakes were much higher. During the game, the Brashear defense and offense proved effec- tive, they downed the Bulldogs and took the title they had in ,79 and '8o. This year brought city- wide recognition to the talents of many Brashear players, as well as Coach Wabby, who was named City League Coach of the Year. Frank Slinger was named City League Player of the Year. Other Bullets who were named to the All-City team include Milton Redwine, Pat Capatolla, Wendell Miller and Lou DiCella. Thanks for a great season, Bullets!
