N-. Patty Tallon listens attentively at a Council meeting. he member of Student Council are elected from all Social Studies classes, which means that every grade is repre- sented. This select group must attend the meet- ings where they learn the basic governmental procedures. They are also responsible for report- ing the council's progression to their fellow class- mates and they partake in the planning of var- ious activities. The sponsor this year is Mrs. Pat English, who is also Brashear's Activities Direc- tor. This is her first year of being the sponsor. She took over the position which was formerly held by Mrs. Frances May Burke. She is doing a good job of organizing the various activities in which the Student Council is involved. They have tried to brighten up the school by painting the garbage cans and decorating the school for the Fall Festival. This year, they held a food drive where students brought in canned and boxed goods and donated money for the needy families of Brashear. The money was used to buy turkeys. This successful drive helped to feed six families a nutritious Thanksgiving dinner. They also are responsible for holding the holiday dances, The Spring Fling, and they run and operate B.I.C. fBrashear Information Center, several days a week, where you are able to buy school supplies, candy, and on certain mornings, you can purchase donuts. The money that is raised goes toward student activities and every- one appreciates all their hard work and dedica- tion. I0
