With the aid and support of good senior leadership, the inexperienced play- ers unproved steadily over the season. Al- though they did not have a winning record, team members maintained a winning attitude throughout the year. The players can look back with pride at their effort and deter- mination. Kelli takes a mighty swing! Its lonely in center a triple by Jennifer! She's out at third! Was this Traci's famous catch! field! Angie at her best! Sportsmanship is a necessary part of any team! Branford Softball came into focus this year as the team Won 10 and Lost 4. After losing most of the team last year to graduation this year was a rebuilding year. It turned out to be even a more productive year as hey spots were filled and team-work became a part of our game. Our team batting average rose to over .450. This bunch of players was happy together with very little bickering and they were ready to play except the Bronsom game(we lost 9-5). Angie Timber lake Kelli Murphy and Joely Stalnaker provided the leadership and the other girls followed with fine play. The team was led in hitting by Angie Tiir.oer lake and Joely Stalnaker. Kelli Murphy, Michele Dingus Jennifer Voorde and Susan Bethune also had high batting averages. The ROOKIES were at times inspiratonal and at times ROOKIES. Great things are expected out of them in the years to come. Michele Dingus made the Gainesville Sun All Area First Team. Her one individual teat was catching 14 fly balls in one game of the District Tournament. Three other players also received Honorable Mention. To Joely and Angie it has been a pleasure to have coached you for the past 4 years. With some sadness I say goodby to you. We had a lot of fun and some bad times and you will be hard to replace. To the rest of the team I look forward to seeing you next year where our goal is the District Tournament Championship. 131 Boys Varsity Baseball WNTV SCHOOLS BRANFORD HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY BASEBALL 1986-87 Won 0 ... Those of you who stayed the course— Now, folks let’s just be fan----- It certainly wasn’t on intellect But through the power of prayer' Now that I have your attention And we all know your spans are short Here’s this year’s personal observations On which I would like to report: Michelle McCoy, you’ve tried so hard To cause shock and raise a brow. You wanted so much to do your thing I’m sorry you never learned how' Robbie Sims, behind the wheel of a car You’re a menace if I ever did see one It’s a shame you have such di s t a i adu-HrS ’Cause J doubt «.you grourup to be oittr -■■l'-i Steve Megargei, it’s a common fact That you’re weak in mind and body. You sound and look like a famous star— The KID...without the karate! Jody Brown, you’ve beat those timbolis At football games for years' At lest I’ll be able to watch a game Without stuffing my gloves in my ears! Class, when you chose Bill Gay lard as your president You were really batting zero' This is a man whose best friend is a truck And Hand Williams Jr., is his hero' Some seniors strive for excellence And willingly give all it takes. Sheri Me, you now hold the record For the most frequent bathroom breaks! Rusty Ramsey, fighter of crime and fire, You tried so hard to be our keeper! Don’t forget on graduation night To wear you little beeper' Ah, Trish, you have such talent And your praises I’ve always sung' But if you want to get a grip on life, First get a grip on your tongue' Leah Suggs, to be chosn outstanding senior Must make you feel humbled but glad. THE CLASS OF 87 Allen Smith has played the trombone Too long, it seems to me' One arm reaches only to his waist, And the other to his knee Sandlin, remember dissecting the chicken, You had all those parts when you were through? Your mom said that if you didn't graduate, She’d do the same to you! Patti Disk in and Sheila Bates Smith Decided this year to be wed, They’ve had little time to do homework, ’Cause they have to do housework instead' Craig Caskins, let us speak frankly, Your grades are not what they should be! I guess your eyelashes are so long It’s hard for you to see! Richie, your skill in basketball games Makes you top scorer in every report. If one watches your moves in the hall at break You’re not doing so bad OFF the court! Matt, all males and females in the class Say you’re a notorious flirt' And they’re worried about you graduation night When they’ll ALL be wearing' skirt! Tucker, my friend, it s time to go. Junior, we’ve had our ups and downs And you’ve kept my nerves in a wad' But before you go, I want you to know, You’re the' cutest cheerleader on the squad And Lana, you’ll become a great surgeon And will be a master at operating. Hurry and learn to implant a brain, Sister Lisa will be here waiting! Jimmy Taylor, man of the hour. We all think that you're just swell' And I know right now that you're blushing... Oh, go ahead, no one can tell! Barbara Willis, you love to gossip And ferret out the news. It's not surprising that during study hall You wore out a pair of shoes! Rhonda Clark, you giddy, dizzy blond. You've floated through these halls for years! I don't mean to say you’re an airhead. But it could have been fatal to pierce your ears! Mike Holtzclaw, you could have been a good scholar Except for one little factor: Your sights are set on the end of the row And your tail on the seat of a tractor' Now Adrian Land, don’t be upset, But as a Chippendale Model you flunk! I tried to sell the agency on you— But Disney doesn’t need another Chipmunk Now I know I excluded several In my insulting rhyme. But it wasn’t from lack of malice But from a lack of time. So when you leave on Friday night You’ll take a part of me. Don’t get choked up...not of my heart But of my sanity Together the problems you have caused Would tempt the saints of Heaven. And I gladly leave you in their care., Good-Bye, Class of ’87' - Love, Mrs. Daniels 171 HIGH SCHOOL AWARDS ASSEMBLY GRADES 7-12 JUNE 2, 1987 PERFECT ATTENDANCE GRAPE SEVEN David Allen T ah it ha Asjes Jennifer VanOcker EIGHTH GRADE Tray Cantrell Christy Conk Tr ac e Daniels Kenneth Cook Steven Rogers Mn1 issa Driver Sara Koon Poinsetta Lucks An t ujnio Jones Lon da Sandlin GRADE NINE Andy Brown Justin Edenfield Sherry Higgins SFove Robi nson Rob Sandlin a TEN Hendr i el s d Hi 1lyard Gina Humphries GRADE ELEVEN Wayne Brake Nicole Carroll GRADE TWELVE Tami Brc ENGLISi AWARDS —COACH RILEr DEEI 8th Grade English—Traci e)l)3ii i e.
