S., do hereby make the following will and testament: Section 1 Item 1: To the junior class we leave our home room and all facilities therein, (pin up pictures in the cloak room and gum found anywhere). Item 2: To the angels of B. H. S. we leave our loud and boisterous manner and our reputation for being the roughest hoodlums ever to stomp out of Branford School. Item 3: To the junior boys, we, the 5 senior boys, leave our beloved home room teacher, Miss Virginia Green, so that they might have something as entertaining as we did. Item 4: We the senior girls will our red shirts to the basketball girls of 49 in hopes that they will hold the same lucky charm as in 48. Item 5: As usual we leave our front seats in chapel to the junior class and the one broken seat on the 3rd row to Ethel Warren because she is tall enough to sit on the floor and still be seen. Section 2 Now each bum wishes to bequeath to the following individuals a little something so that they will remember us as we really are. I, Shirley Atwell, leave my love for one of the opposite sex to Ethel W. Griffin and my ability to say the right thjng at the wrong time to Glorine Collins. I, Bernice Barnett, leave my Athletic ability to Beatrice Bell and my deep dark secrets to Quintilia Fletcher if she can twist, my arm enough to make me tell them. A. member and one of Florida's youngest gum farmers, dipping gum as part of his F. F. A. project. He was awarded an all expense trip and scholarship to the Virginia Forestry Training Camp at Holiday Lake, Virginia. LIBRARY Mrs. P. M. Smith Librarian, at work in the new Library. She has worked un- tiringly setting our new Library in oper- ation this year. A CORNER SCENE IN THE NEW LIBRARY OME ECONOMICS Seventh and Eighth grade girls are having a course in Home Economics this year. First and second year classes consists of girls from grades nine through 12, since one year of Home Economics is required for graduation. The units of work cover such phases as nutri- tion, clothing, housing, health, child care and training j d other phases which prepare them to take their place in community life. A Luncheon Table scene. Training in serving Luncheons is an important phase of the Home Economics Course. The new Hotpoint Range, added to the Department this year, has made cooking a pleasure for the girls. Mr. Suggs, Teacher The Branford Chapter of Future Farmers is prospering under the leadership of FI. W. Suggs. They do modern farming with appropriate equipment on their farm plot. They also have a well equipped shop in which the boys get much practical experience. This is all the F. F. A. boys with their teacher. J. D. Mrs. Annie Rossiter Band Director 73. 7?. 330 This is the Senior Band. Under the direction of Mrs. Annie Ros- siter, it has made much progress this year. This band was invited to lead the Junior Chamber of Commerce Parade honoring John Ben Sheppard, National J. C. Commander, here in Branford February 6, 1948. They participated in many school activities throughout the year. THE SENIOR BAND This is the Junior Band, which is rapidly getting ready to take its place in the Senior Band another year. Student Government was established perma- nently during the year of 1943-44 when a constitution was drawn up and adopted by the students but it had been introduced as early as 1940-41. One of the major events of the year sponsored by this organization was homecoming, held February 20, 1948. The club had a Spanish Party at the Christmas season which carried out Spanish customs. The regular club meetings were held the first Monday night in each month at the homes of the members.
