C. T ix-A.,. TRACER ' 64 CONTENTS Foreword 3 Dedication 4 Administration and Faculty 5 Seniors Underclassmen ri Sports 65 Activities 01 The TRACER is a book about the whole school, but it is not just on objective record. It is compiled subjectively and shows Brandywine as the Tracer Staff sees it. However, we feel that the ' 64 Staff is truly representative of our class, if not of the entire school. Probably every graduating class feels they have a unique class personality and we hope our work as a segment of the group has typified the spirit of the whole. Per- haps that spirit can be best described as basically serious, outwardly exuDerant ana occasionally irrepressible. As we prepared the TRACER, we were grateful for the faculty ' s patience and es- pecially Mr. Skinkus ' guidance. We appreciated their co-operation and understanding many times throughout the year. We present the ' 64 TRACER to our subscribers hoping that your pleasure in reliving the events of this year, will reward our efforts in reconstructing them. DEDICATION The members of the yearbook staff wish to dedicate the ' 64 Tracer to Mr. Richard Readinger as on expression of our gratitude to him. When he was either teaching classes or supervising extracurricular activities, he was especially helpful to our class. As our class advisor in our junior year he was ever willing to assist us. We felt that we could always turn to him, and we relied heavily on his judgment. During that hectic week before the prom, he worked OS hard as any of us. We will always remember him for the encouragement he gave us in his calm, quiet way. FACULTY ADMINISTRATION Left: MR. ALFRED H. AYRES High School Principal Lower left: MR. RALPH S. JOSEPH SNOOK THE SENIORS SAY GOOD-BYE TO BRANDYWINE The days just before commencement were a series of good-byes. There was the class trip iwe were impressed with the fact that it would be the last trip token with our class- mates ' , the Prom, a going-away present from the juniors, the lost donee we gave, appropriately called Bon Voyage, and finally groduation week. For many of us it wasn ' t in the moment that we received our diplomas that we felt the reality of the situation. It was the smaller incidents, per- haps shaking hands with a favorite teacher or seeing one ' s parents during the proces- sional, that made us feel a little nostalgic. 48 f f f t AND ARE GRADUATED WITH ALL DUE CEREMONY On May 31, Rev. Schnell and Rev. Her- man conducted the baccalaureate service which was quite inspiring. Our crowning achievement: Mr. Ayres approved of our academic procession which we had prac- ticed several times before without as much success. The class graduated on June 2. With our wrinkle-proof gowns neatly pressed and our mortar boards parallel to the floor, we filed into the gym and took our places be- fore the speaker ' s platform. Barbara Ger- lach introduced the valedictorian, Judy Luc- kenbill and the salutatorian, Barbara Haas. These three preceded our guest, Mr. Snook. The speakers followed the theme Achieve- ment of Excellence, and it could be said that they demonstrated that theme in their own speeches. After Dr. Brown awarded the diplomas and Rev. Schnell gave the bene- diction, we formed the longest receiving line in Brandywine ' s history. BARBARA HAAS 49 REV. STERLING SCHNELL a UNDERCUSSMEN CLASS OFFICERS: R. Scheelz, Treas.; K. Fisher, V.
