J CE CH IDLAPP -Super student- It seemed there just weren't enough hours in the day for Joe. Every morning he woke to the sound of the school bus leaving. He jumped out of bed Che slept in his clothesl, grabbed his books, and dashed for the door. After racing two blocks for the bus, he arrived only to find there were no seats left, forcing him to ride the remaining eight miles standing up. Once at school he was trampled by the anxious mob of stu- dents hurrying to homeroom. Bruised and bleeding, he crawled to the clinic, only to find he couldn't be admitted without a pass. Groaning, he trudged back to homeroom. His teacher sent him to the office for being 25 mintues late. QJoe didn't understand why his teacher wouldn't accept his excuse. After all, she accepted it the other 15 timeslj Office time again After hiding under the office chairs for 210 hours, Joe was finally discovered by Mr. Hoffman. Crawling meekly from under the chair, he faced a stern lecture and decided to take a paddling rather than be suspended. After three whacks, he was sent to lunch. The last in line as usual, Joe was served the final soyburger of the day. Looking around for a seat, he was not surprised to discover that once again he would have to eat in the win- dow sill. After his climb, he settled him- self and clumsily dropped his french fries. He spilled his milk while bending over to pick them up. Afternoon begins After a single bite of his soyburger, the bell rang. Joe jumped off the window sill and hurried off to face the remainder of the day. After what seemed to Joe an in- terminable amount of time, sixth bell finally rolled around. He heard his bus number had been changed as he listened to the afternoon announcements from the gym shower. Changed to what? Joe didn't hear.
