The quality of a school's staff is the largest single factor in deter- mining the quality of the educational experience provided for stu- dents. A quality staff makes the difference between an average school and a superior school. At Brandon, we like to think we have that quality staff so important to a superior school. The goal of education is to help students realize their fullest poten- tial in two areas: academic and social. esae 4Brandon's faculty and staff gave that extra measure both in the classroom and out to help see that goal is met. They have shown that there's more to teachingland running a school than sitting at a desk. To foster school spirit, they have ridden donkeys, dressed up in ridiculous costumes, and given of their after-hours time to chaperone dances and cheer for the sports teams. They also did those things expected of a staff: planned lessons, graded papers, aiid worked ivvith individual students. 63

The job of an administrator is one which often goes unnoticed by the other people in the school. Students' roles are well defined as are those of the faculty, but what do principals do? These people must make the day to day decisions which affect the smooth opera- tion of the school. Student schedules, discipline, athletic scheduling, evaluations, finances, bus routes, and inservices are all part of the administrative domain. We at Brandon are lucky indeed to be served by such an outstanding group of administrators. Mr. Atkinson, Mrs. Edison, and Mr. Hoffman truly deserve much of the credit for the accomplishments of Brandon's faculty and students. Without their leadership and empathy, this would not be Brandon - it would just be another junior high school. 64
