Padgett, B. Turner, H. Holloway, K. Semat CA TCL Brandon's Cast Club met for the first time in the fall of 1979. Its main purpose was to give its members a chance to ex- change notes and engage in self pity. Other goals of club members, however, included learning how to fill out in- surance forms, how to scratch inside your cast, how to defend yourself using your cast or crutches, and how to attract attention by looking helpless. A major activity of the group was practicing crutch and cast walking. Club co- sponsors were injured faculty members Janelle Becker and Tal Dunn. Financial backing was provided by Blue Cross!Blue Shield. 60 Brandon's 1979-80 newspaper staff, advised by Bev McColley, provided a free newspaper three times a year to all students, promoted good communica- tion within the school, and trained students in all aspects of newspaper publication: writing copy, planning layout, and selling advertisements.
