Members gained additional knowledge of the customs and cultures of the many Spanish and German-speaking countries. They took field trips, had guest speakers, and participated in language-oriented activities in order to learn more about their respective language and people. The Spanish Club was led by sponsors Maria Still and Jodi Brode as well as its club officers. Josh Parrie served as president, and Kris Schaff as vice-president. Aileen Guerrero was secretary-treasurer. The German Club's sponsor was Monique Wicks. Lee Ia' , .,-',,- v., -E,-L V- I A The National Junior Honor Society recognizes students each year for their out- standing scholarship, leadership, character, service, and citizenship. The 1979-80 club, through its many activities and projects, continued to promote ex- cellence in each of these areas. Some of their many projects included an honor roll party, the spring initiation ceremony, tutoring, a canned food drive for needy families, and several money-raising projects. Mrs. Ruben again served as club sponsor. The club of- ficers were Alan Gamboa, presidentg Eileen Aquino, vice-president, Laurie Zirkle, secretaryg and Moncelsa Acedo, treasurer. TER ATIO AL CLUB Students belonging to the International Club are provided the opportunity to learn more about other coun- tries and cultures. Their many activities for 1979-80 included collecting money for UNICEF at Halloween, sponsoring a foreign song fest and Christmas party, and visiting foreign restaurants. Larsen The FHA CFuture Homemakers of Americal gives students oppor- tunities for self- development and prepares them for family life. Most FHA members are enrolled in home economics and continue to pursue their domestic in terests through the many club activities. This year those activities included attending th local federation's Leadership Training Workshop, travelling to the Virginia State Fair, spon soring a skating party, and participating in the state leadership conference in Roanoke. Starchia, S. Butcher 54 The Brandon Christian Fellowship started the year with an ice cream sundae party with Green Run and Princess Anne High Schools and Hope Haven Children's Home. The club helped in- terested Christians grow through fellowship, Bible study, and service. Club members visited a nursing home and participated in other Christian oriented pro- jects. The BCF officers for 1979-80 were David Jahn, president, Alan Arehart, vice-president, Terri Gross, treasurer, Chris Doyle, secretary. Mrs. McColley and Mr. Parsons were the faculty advisors.
