FIELD HOCKEY 1979 Despite its no winl' record, Brandon's field hockey team kept up its spirit and morale for the entire season. The Chargers managed to finish the season with ties to Princess Anne and Kempsville, locking in a three-way tie with those teams for fourth place in the league. The team was coached by Terry Sawyer of White Oaks Elementary School. Though all team members performed well, the most valuable player for the season was Jennifer Armstrong. Susan Strobach walked away with honors as the most valuable offensive player, and Lisa Bruner took defensive honors. Throughout the season, the girls gained valuable experience which they hope to put to good use in the 1980 games. 'fs-J Front S St bach T. Regal, J. Morgan, C. Arzadon, F. Lyons, J. Building a wres- tling team requires all of this and more because, although in- dividual performance is impor- tant, combined efforts produce a team win or a team loss at each match. Under the direction of Coach Dave Early, Brandon's matmen struggled through another difficult building year. But relying on last year's learning experience and some new talent, the Chargers were able to come up with more wins individually and overall. Determination, skill, practice, and patience were developed this year at Brandon, and hopefully they will lead the Y matmen to greater, future 1 H7 success. l 24 l-Ft 'T if faabfi lliilli ,illil m it N
