Fun time Summer is the favorite season of most stu- dents. It is that time of year we most look forward to. By the time June rolls around, most of us are eagerly anticipating the idea of getting up at any time of day, going to bed late, meeting some new guys or girls, and ly- ing in the sun on the beach. As the close of school grows near, it becomes harder and harder to concentrate. No matter how hard we try, summer always creeps into our thoughts. We daydream about what great times we will have. Sometimes our imaginary times actually become reality. Brandon students carried away many fond memories from the summer of '79, Jenny Marker went to the beach every chance she got. She also went to Busch Gardens, where she rode the Loch Ness Monster for the first time. N. is-.!,':',f ,gi .Q SSA'-'Q' . . T0 REFLECT PO - J,--'-'J .N Jr- awfe, .au.f:s,,4Q-4.f',i'Hifi .rgff.-is-gt-,.f'2 '..affva ' -4. is , l r Here we are again at the close of another year. Boy, it's difficult to figure out just where the time went. As teenagers, We Weren't always patient. We tended to want everything immediately. Many of us spent so much of this past year wishing, waiting, and anticipating upcoming events that we didn't take time to en- joy each day as it came. CHOW many times have we heard people say that we are wishing our lives away?J Maybe now that it's over, we can reflect upon this past year and discover that some of the things that happened were actually fun. We might even discover that we learned a lot. And maybe, if we're really honest with ourselves, we might admit we are a little sad that the year is over. Perhaps next year we'1l begin enjoying more and wishing less. But there we go again . . . anticipating the future. Maybe that's what youth is all about. Whatever we say about the year, though, one thing's for cer- tain. It did seem to go by fast. Maybe that old cliche is still true. Time flies when you 're having fun.

'-41 1 eil The summer of '79 passed u Summer 19 9 Lance Sanderson and Joe Don Strickland had a very un- usual summer. They were hired as parking lot attendants at a hotel on the boardwalk at the beach. Sometimes, they took time off to go surfing. Halfway through the summer they both got laid off' ' from their jobs, their first taste of the ups- and-downs of real, adult business life. They spent the rest of their summer surfing. Helene Whitley had a very busy summer. When she wasn't antagonizing neighbors, watching television, going to the movies, or visiting the library, she could usually be found swimming at the local pool. Steven O'Sullivan managed to keep busy by going to the beach, water- fluming, and body surfing. He visited Ocean City, Maryland, and went to several amusement parks. When he could get away from family activities, he escaped to the skateboard park. Michelle Belanger, too, had a very exciting summer. She spent three days in a leadership workshop and canoed with her family down the Shenandoah River. s by so quickly that it seemed as if it had vanished before we realized it. All too soon our summer fun was over and it was time for school again . . . Like we said, time flies when you're h av ing fun! . 5
