Pate, consisted ot twen- ty-tour singers and six band members. A very significant characteristic of the members ot Aquilla was that there were no certain students that actually ran the group, but rather, each individual was ex- pected to be a leader. This unique form of leadership resulted in one of the hardest working singing groups at BHS - one which received superior ratings at both district and state contests. A very honor- able recognition came to Aquilla from the Veterans! Administration in Washington, DC. tor their outstanding services. Along with singing their way up to top ratings at contests, Aquilla also success- fully performed as the singing public rela- tions agents of the Brandon community. They visited schools, churches, and hospitals, touching many hearts their music. The 1980-81 Stage Band, which pleted its sixth year of existence at was led by Mr. Lonnie J. Keen, and sisted ot thirty very talented members. The Stage Band served the by playing at approximately thirty certs in the Brandon and Tampa a Along with entertaining the people ot community, the Stage Band attended trlct and state Stage Band contests received superior ratings at both.
