Pate, consisted ot twen- ty-tour singers and six band members. A very significant characteristic of the members ot Aquilla was that there were no certain students that actually ran the group, but rather, each individual was ex- pected to be a leader. This unique form of leadership resulted in one of the hardest working singing groups at BHS - one which received superior ratings at both district and state contests. A very honor- able recognition came to Aquilla from the Veterans! Administration in Washington, DC. tor their outstanding services. Along with singing their way up to top ratings at contests, Aquilla also success- fully performed as the singing public rela- tions agents of the Brandon community. They visited schools, churches, and hospitals, touching many hearts their music. The 1980-81 Stage Band, which pleted its sixth year of existence at was led by Mr. Lonnie J. Keen, and sisted ot thirty very talented members.
