Hard work, determination, and a lot of practice - these things characterized both the Equestrian Club and the Fore- nsics League. The Equestrian Club focused on the enjoyment of horses. All members loved to ride, and many participated in contests and horse shows with their four-legged friends. Mrs. Nancy McDermott was the spon- sor ofthe Equestrian Club, and she her- self loved to ride. She owned four horses of her own, which she showed. The Forensics League concentrated on the fine points of the art of debating. The members participated in debates with each other, first researching their points and practicing their style. On Election Day, the tive members of the Forensics League held a debate on the issues for the classes of Perez, Powell, and Hammock. The audience was to imagine that the candidates na been elected in the primaries instead Carter and Reagan. Michael Cunnu gham and running-mate Perter Dunla took the side of the Reagan administr tion on many points, while Mike Davis an running-mate Jim Schiefelbein took th Carter views. Ernie Donini acted as mo erator between the two candidates. Th audience asked questions of the candi dates concerning the economy, taxe foreign policy, and U.S. defense. Miss Chrissy lgnatuk sponsored th Forensics League and taught publi speaking and English. While there were few similarities be tween Equestrians and Forensic League, their single common bond wa that each group boasted member strongly devoted to the interests prom oted by the group.
