Junior High Night as a concert in which all areajunior high hool choruses participated in the con- rt. The PTSA Christmas Concert in- uded the Brandon High School Concert hoir and the Orchestra. This year the guys in the Orchestra wore tuxedos in their performances. Superior in all per- formances, the Orchestra was invited to play at many school and community events such as the Calendar Couple Con- test and the state contest at Winter Haven. ln addition to planning and per- forming halftime shows at football games, the Band also participated in other activi- ties over the year. Some of these were the Gasparilla Day Parade, The Strawberry Festival Parade, and a Joint Concert with Chamberlain and Leto High Schools. Although the schedule in Music was hec- tic, the students, led by the talented and experienced Music Department staff, made the work look easy. The Physical Education Department also had a variety of things to do and a variety of reasons for doing them. A per- son taking PE could participate in football, volleyball, tennis, softball, basketball, and track. Students participated in PE be- cause it was a requirement for gradua- tion, because personal physical improve- ment was their goal, or just because they enjoyed participating in various types of sports. There were also special classes of gymnastics, weight lifting, and condition- ing. At Brandon, as well as across the nation, the increased public awareness of the value of physical fitness had made us more aware of the value of PE instruction. Whether students were perfecting their talents or just fulfilling their requirements, Brandon High School offered the best curriculum possible in music and in physical education. Jeff Thomasson and Brian Staley de- velop their volleyball skills. Tommy Conley reaches for his goal. Physical Education X 351
