Mix Them Up ... Move Them Out Another crop of inquisitive botanists and physicists supervised test tubes of bubbling concoctions and peered into microscopes to discover the secrets of cellular structure. Out on the drill field, future military scientists applied their knowledge of precision to a marching routine. Careful attention to detail char- acterized the operations of both Science and ROTC. The Science Department, headed by Mrs. Mercedes Hernandez, welcomed newcomers to the field to Eagle Country. The newcomers were Mr. Pete Knox, Ms. Jessie Tanner, Mr. Jeff Farber, Ms. Susan Johnson, Mr. Thomas Levija and Mrs. Judy Mann. Advanced photography, AP biology and AP chemistry were just a few of the specialty courses offered. The biggest addition to the Science Depart- ment was a TRS-80 computer which would save the teachers many hours of endless nights grading papers. The Re- serve Officers Training Corps unit at Brandon High was designated as an Hon- or Unit which ranked in the top twenty percent of all units in the United States. Selected cadets performed duties in per- sonnel, leadership, security, operations and training of all new cadets. Brandon was noted for its outstanding drill team, colorguards and rifle teams. The ROTC unit had a National Rifle Association Chapter and a scholastic honorary club tSabersJ. Whether he wanted only to complete a requirement or whether he sought de- tailed knowledge, any Brandon student could expect thorough instructions from Science and ROTC. 348 X Science I' Bonny Romeo and Susan Romeo never thought they would find such interesting things under the microscope. Lee Ann Jones, Mary Smith, and Julie Brown are taking a laugh while Stacia Pennington is down to some serious work. I.
