Working To Serve You Making sure each room was cleaned d organized and that the lunches were ll-balanced were the jobs of the custo- I and cafeteria staffs. Cafeteria Manager, Mrs. Nina Lucas, rived at 9:52 A.M. to begin preparing nches for the approximately 400 stu- nts and 100 teachers who chose to rchase lunch at school. These meals ere all homemade and were thoroughly WM joyed by the students and faculty. l'l ' WWW Keeping every room and hallway spot- ss was the tremendous job tackled by e custodians. Under the direction of Mr. ud Pitts, head custodian, each member f the staff performed his duties with ase. The jobs varied from day to day, but e staff completed each task easily. In ddition to vacuuming every room, the halkboards were washed and chairs eatly put into their places. E Whether it was picking up paper in the alls or serving a nutritious lunch, the if . ustodial staff and cafeteria staff put forth I T eir best effon to serve you, the students f Brandon High. At the beginning of the school year 230 were a part of the staff this huge, smooth-running machine. people all had some part in the implementation ot a curriculum which came close to offering something for everyone. Required courses for gradua- tion included three years of English. two years of math, a science course. and his- tory. These were each made available at tour different degrees of difficulty - Com- pensatory Education for those who needed remediation to meet state re- quirements. Basic for those who desired a simplified version of the course. Ftegular for the vast majority of the school popula- tion, and AP for gifted students who wished to earn college credit for their efforts. Much more than just required training was offered to us. though. From Science to Auto Mechanics to Social Studies, throughout every department of the school, we had opportunities for detailed study in the areas which we felt would be ofthe most use to us as individuals. , Chemistry students of 1956 demon- strate the unique scientific methods used back in the 5O's.
