That things ran smoothly at Brandon was due in no part to our clerical staff, four of had been there more than fifteen Mrs. Virginia Cornett, secretary to Principal John Owens, led the thirty-two years of experience at Mrs. Joelle Skinner, secretary Principal Orlan Briant, was next most- with nineteen years. TTL.. iss Sitting with perfect typing posture is Mrs. Betty Din- nis from the Deans' Office. l-las It L boasting seventeen years of service to Brandon were Bookkeeper, Mrs. Gloria Smelt, and Data Processing Clerk, Mrs. Marian Capitano. These four ladies had started work at Brandon when the school was much smaller and had adapted skill- fully to their increased work loads as both the school and the community increased in size. Mrs. Cornett said that when she first came to Brandon High there were fewer than 1,000 students and the school held grades one through twelve. Mrs. l The sign over Mrs. Marian Capitano's desk in Data Progessing says, A clean desk is the sign of a sick min -I Smelt, who handled all the financial trans- actions for the school, said her work had tripled during her years here, but added that she loved herwork and being at Bran- don. Brandon's secretaries made it all look easy. Not only did they run their op- eration without mix-ups, they also could find time to help a student or a teacher with one of those special requests that seemed to be a part of every day in a school of over 4,000. wt: l ll . Working To Serve You Making sure each room was cleaned d organized and that the lunches were ll-balanced were the jobs of the custo- I and cafeteria staffs. Cafeteria Manager, Mrs. Nina Lucas, rived at 9:52 A.M. to begin preparing nches for the approximately 400 stu- nts and 100 teachers who chose to rchase lunch at school. These meals ere all homemade and were thoroughly WM joyed by the students and faculty. l'l ' WWW Keeping every room and hallway spot- ss was the tremendous job tackled by e custodians. Under the direction of Mr. ud Pitts, head custodian, each member f the staff performed his duties with ase. The jobs varied from day to day, but e staff completed each task easily. In ddition to vacuuming every room, the halkboards were washed and chairs eatly put into their places.
