Making sure that students had the essential equipment necessary to pass courses such as tex- tbooks, workbooks, protractors, cars for Driver's Education, Physical Education equipment, and much more was also a big task for Department Heads. 'E sufficient supplies, while working with a budget, were all in the line of duty for these very dedicated workers. As if just handling these leadership duties weren't enough to constitute a full time job, most department heads also taught either four or five classes each day. Creating and collecting craft objects is t keeps Mrs. Barbara Anderson happy. he hobby that Zia ' 3 Those who believed that the typical Brandon teacher spent his entire life out- side of school hours in scholarly en- deavors like paper-grading and test- writing, simply didn't know their teachers very well. When polled as to their hobbies, our faculty responded with a massive list which included boating, dancing, camp- ing, gardening, sewing, hunting, fishing, working with crafts, traveling with their families, and playing or watching every imaginable sport. Some of the most uni- que responses came from Mr. James Duffy, who enjoyed making stained glass creations and drag racing, Mrs. Ann Aley, whose hobby was catering partiesg Mrs. Carmel Cone, who enjoyed raising orchids and arranging flowersg Mr. Glenn Churchwell, whose interests included driving semi-trucks and participating in stock car racing and tractor pullsg Mr. Frank Crawford, who enjoyed wood- working for relaxationg and Mrs. Claudeen Boyd, whose idea of fun was climbing into her own plane at Brandon Airport and tak- ing off into the sunset.
