During the school year students were constantly doing reports, research pap- ers, and just reading books for enjoyment. Many were unfamiliar with the Media Center, especially sophomores. To assist the students in their struggle to find books, there were the Media Specialists. Mrs. Claire Jones, Ms. Ola Primus, Mrs. Joy Revels, Mrs. Carol Covington, and Mrs. Joy Stafford were all very helpful to students puzzled by the maze of mate- rials available in the Media Center. The Media Specialists instructed students on how to find books in the quickest possible way and on how to use the materials when they found them. Other equally vital jobs of the Media Specialists were operating our well- stocked audio-visual equipment office, video-taping special presentations for va- rious departments and organizations, maintaining county A-V files and proces- sing requests for materials, and keeping our periodical room up to date. The Media Specialists were an all-around big help and aided students in their research en- deavors. Another group of people that assisted students were the Guidance Counselors. The Guidance Counselors helped stu- dents in many ways. They instructed stu- dents in which classes were best for them, and they were there when the stu- dents had a problem with their classes. Each student was assigned a counselor and could go and talk with him at almost any time. Figuring out a schedule was, for many, a tedious task. The counselors had a knowledge of each course and could explain it to the confused student. Guidance also provided invaluable ser- vices to Brandon students in disseminating college information, bringing college re- cruiting groups to the school, keeping stu- dents informed on job opportunities and available scholarships, and providing de- tailed counseling for certain special lem areas. The Resource Officer, Deputy T Allyn, was at Brandon to direct morally and legally. Although he available on campus to act as an the law in certain situations Allyn's primary duty was to provide rials and to conduct classes on such as drug abuse and legal liability For students interested in health lated areas, Brandon had its own Occupations teacher, Mrs. Barbara denbo. Mrs. Redenbo taught dealing with health, such as Health vice Aide I or ll and the Fundamentals Health Occupations. She was a re istered nurse, and she taught some of h nursing skills to the students. The Heal Occupations classes provided a gre service to Brandon's students. Special People Offer Special Hel Guidance .
